Clavichord after Hubert, c. 1784

A finely crafted fretted clavichord inspired by the late 18th-century German tradition.

An instrument of remarkable intimacy, where the sound is shaped directly by the player’s touch, offering a level of expressive control that only the clavichord can provide.

The case is made of beautifully figured cherrywood, a material not only visually striking but also appreciated for its acoustic qualities, contributing to a light and intimate sound, remarkably sensitive to touch, where every nuance is shaped directly by the player’s fingers.

The keyboard features ebony naturals and particularly elegant accidentals, constructed in a refined sandwich of maple and ebony, giving both visual lightness and tactile clarity.

Preserved in as-new condition, the instrument offers the rare opportunity to experience a clavichord of this kind in an exceptionally fresh and responsive state.

Harpsichord after Christian Zell, Hamburg 1728

A finely crafted harpsichord after Christian Zell, one of the most important makers of the Hamburg school.

A rare opportunity to acquire an instrument of this kind in such condition.

Zell’s instruments are renowned for their powerful and colourful sound, combining a strong, dark bass with a brilliant and singing upper register, and for their unmistakable visual presence.

The disposition of two 8’ registers and a 4’ stop offers a rich and structured tonal palette, with depth, clarity and natural projection.

The instrument stands out for its refined decorative character, with an elegant painted case, richly detailed side panels and a set of finely hand-carved legs, faithfully copied from the original models and connected by a shaped underframe.

The keyboard features bone naturals and ebony accidentals, with front panels enriched by finely executed inlays in bois de rose, bone and ebony, after the original model.

A matching bench, decorated in the same style, completes the ensemble.

Preserved in excellent condition, with a strong and stable structure, the instrument presents itself in a highly responsive and musically compelling state.
